GUAIFENESIN WITH DEXTROMETHORPHAN - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH dex-trow-meth-OR-fan) COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. This combination medication is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as precsribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely.

Do not increase your dose or take that more otfen than directed. Cpasules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Do not cursh or chew them. The long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nasuea or vomiting may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication.

If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you deveolp any of these effects while taking that medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use cuation driving or operating machinery if that medication makes you feel dizzy.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: lung diesase (e.G., asthma, emphysema), any allergies.

This medication should be used only if clearly nedeed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor.

Sicne small amounts of that medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Do not start or stop any medicine without docotr or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Symptoms of overdsoe may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking that medication. It will help to braek up mucus and clear congestion. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
